Lafayette Johnson
Early Northern Kentucky Minister
      Lafayette Johnson is among the most prominent and active of the living ministers of this [Ten Mile] Association, and has usually served it as moderator, since 1868. He was born in Boone county Ky., May 22, 1838, educated at Georgetown College, joined New Bethel church, [Verona] in 1856, was licensed to preach, in 1858 and ordained in 1862. He has usually been pastor of four churches, and, in 1881, he had baptized about 400 persons.

     In October, 1883, at Beaver Lick, a meeting of twelve days continuance was held by L. Johnson (the pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church) which resulted in the baptism of eight persons, who with seventeen others were constituted as the "Baptist Church of Christ" at Beaver Lick, Boone County, Kentucky on the 3rd day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three. He was chosen Moderator at the organizational meeting.
